Consultation and Engagement
Conducting and delivering a meaningful engagement strategy is more than producing a document or meeting a standard. It requires engagement and consultation of your team, engaging your community and changing systemic habits. It is about fostering relationships and reciprocity.
Participants will gain an understanding of consultation and engagement practices and how to conduct meaningful engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations. Participants will learn strategies to be responsive and build capacity.
Our approach to engagement strives to build authentic partnerships between organisations and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We align our approach and adopt the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous peoples (UNDRIP) .
Jarraga can assist workplaces build capacity and commitment to Reconciliation through the development and implementation of Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) – ie develop one of the four types of RAP ,Reflect, Innovate, Stretch or Elevate.
An organisational RAP supports a commitment to the ‘Close the Gap’ priorities which strive to close the life expectancy gap between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians.
